Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is set to enhance its network with Hyderabad’s Nagole to Welcome a New Station for Airport Metro the construction of a new metro station in Nagole, strategically positioned near the existing ‘Blue Line’ terminal station. This expansion is a pivotal step in the overarching plan to establish a seamless metro link to the international airport at Shamshabad. To facilitate seamless connectivity between these key stations, plans are underway for the construction of a skywalk at the concourse level.
Enhancing Connectivity with Skywalk Construction
During a recent inspection of the 14-kilometer Nagole-Chandrayangutta leg of the Airport Metro, a team of metro officials, spearheaded by MD N.V.S. Reddy, made the decision to adjust the alignment by shifting it 10 meters to the left along the Musi River. This strategic adjustment aims to circumvent any interference with vital water main pipelines and high-tension power lines.
Infrastructure Development for River Rejuvenation
In preparation for the proposed river rejuvenation endeavors, the construction will utilize longer spans to traverse the Musi River. Furthermore, plans are in place for the establishment of another metro station immediately following the river crossing. This station will offer connectivity to the road from Kottapet Junction and will serve the needs of nearby residential areas.
Strategic Location Planning for Optimal Connectivity
The upcoming Nagole RTO station is slated to be positioned near Alkapuri Junction (Lucky Restaurant), strategically situated to connect seamlessly with the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Additionally, another metro station is earmarked for the right side of the Kamineni Hospital station.
Overcoming Infrastructure Challenges
To mitigate potential challenges posed by towering flyovers at Bairamalguda (Sagar), the decision has been made to realign the metro to the right of the flyovers. The station will be situated in the adjoining open space to ensure smooth operation.
Comprehensive Coverage for Nearby Colonies
Several other proposed stations, including Mythri Nagar, Karmanghat, Champapet Road Junction, Owaisi Hospital, DRDO, and Hafeez Baba Nagar, are strategically positioned to cater to the needs of nearby residential colonies.
Engineering Solutions for Interchange Stations
The construction of the Chandrayangutta interchange station presents a unique engineering challenge, particularly due to the presence of a flyover. Seamless integration of both corridors will necessitate meticulous adjustments to concourse and platform levels.
Minimal Disruption through Collaborative Efforts
Efforts to acquire private land for station construction will be minimal and conducted through constructive dialogues with the police and local residents, ensuring minimal disruption to the community.
Through strategic planning and meticulous execution, Hyderabad Metro Rail is poised to enhance connectivity and facilitate seamless travel experiences for residents and commuters alike.
