Telangana TET 2024 Notification &Job Calendar Based Exam Schedule Released

The Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification for November 2024 has been officially released by the School Education Department on November 4. This marks the second TET notification of the year, aligning with the government’s commitment to conduct the exam twice annually, as stated in the job calendar.

Telangana TET: Key Dates and Exam Frequency

In a significant move to streamline teacher recruitment, the Telangana government announced that the TET exam will be held twice a year. Earlier this year, the first phase of the TET exam was conducted online between May 20 and June 2, with the second phase notification released on November 4. According to the job calendar issued in August, the January exams will follow shortly after this notification, although the exact dates—whether before or after Sankranti—are yet to be finalized.

Overview of the May 2024 TET Exam Results

The TET exam conducted in May witnessed an impressive turnout, with approximately 235,000 candidates participating. Among these, around 109,000 candidates successfully cleared the exam. Given that the state also conducted the District Selection Committee (DSC) exams recently, a slight dip in candidate turnout for the January TET exam is expected. Since the TET exam is conducted online, exam slots need to be allocated over several days, requiring around 7–10 days of scheduling.

Eligibility Criteria for TET 2024

The eligibility requirements for the TET 2024 remain straightforward:

  • Paper 1: Candidates must have completed their Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed.).
  • Paper 2: Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.).

This eligibility criterion aligns with the government’s policy of requiring TET certification for promotions to School Assistant positions. As a result, many in-service teachers are expected to appear for the exam.

TET Exam Track Record and Increased Demand

Since the inception of the Telangana TET, the exam has been conducted nine times. The January 2024 session will mark the tenth occurrence of this exam. Following Telangana’s state formation, the TET has been conducted six times, including the May 2024 session. It is notable that under the Congress administration, the TET will now be conducted twice within the same calendar year, indicating an accelerated effort to meet the rising demand for certified teachers.

May 2024 TET Exam Analysis

A detailed breakdown of the May 2024 TET shows the following participation rates:

  • Total Applications: 286,381 candidates applied for the TET 2024.
  • Paper 1 Attendance: Out of 85,996 applicants, 57,725 cleared the exam, resulting in a 67.13% pass rate.
  • Paper 2 Attendance: Among 150,491 candidates, 51,443 passed, reflecting a 34.18% success rate.

When compared to the TET 2023 results, Paper 1 saw a pass rate increase of 30.24%, while Paper 2 saw an improvement of 18.88%. These positive results highlight the effectiveness of the revised teacher training programs and improved exam preparation resources.

TET 2024: A New Milestone in Teacher Recruitment

The Telangana TET, organized bi-annually, aims to ensure a sufficient number of qualified teachers for the state’s educational institutions. The notification, issued today, will facilitate exams slated for January 2024, with online test dates and other details to be disclosed soon. This follows the government’s May-June TET session, which saw online exams conducted smoothly.

Key Highlights of the TET 2024 Notification

According to the job calendar, the TET exams for the second half of 2024 will take place in January. More than 2.35 lakh candidates participated in the last TET in May, out of which 1.09 lakh candidates passed. This year, the number of participants may decrease slightly due to the completion of the District Selection Committee (DSC) exams.

With the exams held online, slot availability is crucial, requiring at least a week or ten days of available slots. The government is currently considering scheduling the TET exams either before or after the Sankranti festival, depending on slot availability.

Eligibility and Requirements for TET 2024

For the TET exams, candidates must meet specific educational qualifications. For Paper 1, a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed.) is required, while a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is necessary for Paper 2. Additionally, TET eligibility is now a criterion for promotions as School Assistants, encouraging many in-service teachers to register for the exam. This is the tenth TET exam since the introduction of the test, and the sixth exam held after the formation of Telangana as a separate state. Notably, this is the second TET exam being conducted since the Congress government assumed power.
