The low-pressure system is expected to intensify into a depression over the next 24 hours, leading to continued heavy rainfall in North Andhra and coastal districts. In Vijayawada, the situation is particularly dire, with torrential rains causing widespread flooding and waterlogged roads.
In response, the Visakhapatnam district education department has extended school holidays, with District Collector Harendhir Prasad issuing orders for the closures. Similarly, in the NTR district, extensive rainfall has led to waterlogged roads in Vijayawada, prompting Collector Srujana to declare holidays for all schools in the area. The Krishna River basin is on high alert, with 70 gates of the Prakasam Barrage opened to release 332,374 cubic meters of water.
