The much-anticipated boat journey from Nagarjuna Sagar to Srisailam has officially launched, marking a significant development for tourists and nature lovers. This service, provided by the Telangana Tourism Department, was inaugurated on the first day of the Hindu month of Karthika, finally bringing to life a plan that had been on hold for the last five years. Due to various reasons, including low water levels in the reservoir and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch had faced repeated delays. However, with abundant rainfall in recent months, the Krishna River is now brimming with water, making this scenic route viable once again.

Scenic Boat Journey Highlights

The Nagarjuna Sagar to Srisailam boat journey offers breathtaking views of several natural and historical attractions along its 120-kilometer stretch. Tourists onboard can enjoy sights of scenic locations such as Nandikonda, Eleshwaram, Saleshwaram, the Eastern Ghats, and the dense Nallamala forest. The Telangana Tourism Department has introduced this route with the intention of providing visitors a memorable experience while boosting local tourism.

Additionally, the department has opened another route, which runs from Somashila in Nagarkurnool district to Srisailam. This alternative route, inaugurated recently, features an air-conditioned boat that accommodates up to 120 passengers, offering a comfortable journey through scenic waters and landscapes.

Ticket Prices and Travel Duration

The boat journey from Nagarjuna Sagar to Srisailam spans approximately seven hours, covering 120 kilometers of picturesque river scenery. Ticket prices for the journey have been set at ₹2,000 for adults and ₹1,600 for children, making it an affordable adventure for families, couples, and groups. The Telangana Tourism Development Corporation stated that they plan to continue running these boat services as long as the water level in Nagarjuna Sagar dam remains at a minimum of 575 feet.

After spending time at Srisailam, visitors can choose to return on the second day, enjoying the same scenic route back to Nagarjuna Sagar.
