Mamnoor Airport Telangana Govt sanctions 205 crore for land acquisition in Warangal area

One promoter and supporter of the warangal airport is Telangana chief minister Jagdish Reddy as he’s stated this airport is of utmost importance to the citizens and will cut down unnecessary travel through trains. The outskirt region of Mamnoor in Warangal has been approved by the India government. Moreover, a strong sense of optimism engulfs the people of Telangana in her efforts to establish superior infrastructure and strengthen the ties involved in regional air travel. AAI intends to focus on meeting the wider needs that the manufacturers of the larger advanced global markets will also need to expand into.

The Mamnoor Development Plan – Its Details

Allegedly targeting six regional airports for development, the Telangana government appears to be on a plan to aggressively expand air traffic connectivity for the various sectors within its borders. Mamnoor airport will be one of the first few constructed in the coming decade, according to AAI’s new strategy, in a bid to promote business activities. A systematic investigation was carried out to establish the technical viability of Mamnoor as a development site for relocation and administration, in such ways that there was projected economic benefits.

Key Approvals and Financial Commitment

The acquisition of AIRPORT LAND is Estate Aid. The actual figures are not immediate to enlist, but the government allocated INR 205 crore (around USD 50 million) to acquire 280.3 acres of land for the Airport’s Мамно́рны́ expansion. In addition, the Warangal District Collector was authorized by the government to provide another 253 acres, free of cost and free from all encumbrances, to allow for expansion of the runway and for other infrastructural development.

AAI’s operational responsibilities include the payment of infrastructure expenses and operational costs associated with the airport. This includes activities like constructing a new terminal, extending the runway, Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower construction and many others.

Land Acquisition and Expansion Plans

Runway at Mamnoor Airport expected to be extended 1.8 km to 3.9 km with the possibility of A-320 type aircraft and IFR operations. This implies extension of land by additional 300 acres in addition to the existing 693 acres. The sanctioned land is anticipated to construct basic infrastructure like:

Expansion of the runway to allow larger aircraft to land.

Expansion of terminal building for future passenger operations.

Acquisition of Navigational instruments for effective and safe operations.

Acquisition of Air Traffic Control (ATC) to assist in managing air traffic.

The District Collector for Warangal is therefore instructed by state government to speed up the completion of land acquisition so that the needed continuity in the implementation of the project is maintained.

Working Together with Hyderabad International Airport

The Rajiv Gandhi Hyderabad International Airport Limited (RGHIAL) also handed in a No Objection Certificate (NOC), a very important annex for the project. As such, the development of the Mamnoor Airport was facilitated when RGHIAL relaxed some provisions of its concession agreement during a board meeting held on the 23rd of October 2024. This partnership illustrates the need for both international and regional airports to work together in terms of connectivity.

Strategic value of Mamnoor Airport

The construction of the Mamnoor Airport is likely to make Warangal a major regional centre for aviation. Some of the specific advantages are as follows:

Economic Growth: The opening of the airport will lead to greater business activity and investment in the area thus increasing job creation.

The foundation of Mamnoor airport project won’t only be a landmark initiative but will also be a further advancement of Telangana policy towards the maintenance of internal integration and infrastructure sophistication. Through, AAI and other collaborators, it can be noted that the State is attempting to build a solid foundation for regional air transport. In its capacity as an airport, Mamnoor when completed and opened will be a major breakthrough for an airport redesigning Warangal and its communication for development for decades.
