Telangana Government Allots 2BHK Houses to Musi River Buffer Zone Families: A Humanitarian Effort In a significant move to improve the living conditions of economically disadvantaged families, the Government of Telangana has announced the allocation of 2BHK houses for families residing in the Musi River bed and buffer zones. These areas, located within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, are home to nearly 15,000 families, most of whom are economically underprivileged. In the past, government orders such as G.O.Ms.No.10, dt:15.10.2015, and G.O.Ms.No.3, dt:06.11.2020 provided guidelines on housing schemes. However, considering the current scenario and humanitarian needs, the government has decided to relax these orders to accommodate the affected families. Survey and Identification of Beneficiaries The decision follows a detailed field-level survey conducted by the Musi River Front Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL). As outlined in Lr.No.MRDCL/Revenue/Allotting 2BHK/180, dated:05.09.2024, the survey identified approximately 15,000 households living within the river bed and buffer zones. The survey revealed that many of these families are struggling with inadequate housing, and the majority fall below the poverty line. This prompted the Managing Director of MRDCL to request the government’s intervention in providing these families with suitable housing in the GHMC area. The proposal was further backed by the Telangana Housing Corporation Limited (TGHCL), which, through Lr.No.1241/MRDCL/GHMC/2BHK houses allotment/2024, dated: 10.09.2024, requested the government to make a special provision for these families, citing the need for relaxing the previous orders governing the allotment of 2BHK houses. Ms. No. 108, issued by the Finance (HRM-I) Department on September 25, 2024. This decision, aimed at strengthening the administrative and urban development framework, follows a thorough review and recommendation from the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department. Overview of the New Posts and Pay Scales In response to the MA&UD Department’s request, the government has approved a variety of positions, ranging from high-level administrative roles to technical and operational posts. The positions will be filled on a deputation basis, with the aim of improving efficiency and development across various sectors within the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area. Breakdown of the 169 New Positions The government has released a detailed list of the newly sanctioned positions, which include: Commissioner (AIS Rank): One post, with a cadre rank, marking it as the top executive position within the commission. Additional Commissioner (SP Rank): One cadre post and three additional posts with a pay scale ranging from ₹83,100 to ₹1,54,690. These posts will oversee various strategic operations. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP): Five posts with a pay scale of ₹58,850 to ₹1,37,050, responsible for enforcing law and order within the jurisdiction.
