He directed relevant officials not to shut down single-teacher schools due to low student enrollment. ₹2,000 Crore Allocated for School Infrastructure Reconstruction During an awards ceremony for students, organized by the Vandemataram Foundation at Ravindra Bharathi, Revanth Reddy highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure. He pointed out that the previous government's neglect of basic amenities in schools caused severe inconvenience for students. The Congress government aims to provide education to every village and hamlet, ensuring no school closures. A mega DSC is being conducted, with notifications for 11,000 posts released. Education and agriculture commissions will soon be established to address ongoing issues. Rebuilding School Infrastructure The government has initiated projects worth ₹2,000 crore to reconstruct school buildings. To encourage student enrollment, the 'Acharya Jayashankar Badi Bata' program has been launched. Responsibilities, from midday meals to uniforms, have been assigned to women’s associations, which also manage Amma Adarsha Schools. Funds are being released through a green channel. Prominent Figures from Government Schools Revanth Reddy emphasized that leaders like Modi, Chandrababu, and himself are products of government schools. He noted that 90% of IAS and IPS officers also studied in these institutions. The Vandemataram Foundation reminded everyone of their responsibilities through such initiatives, proving that government school students can excel with determination. Focus on Semi-Residential School Model The government is considering implementing a semi-residential model in government schools. Proposals include providing breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks. Studies revealed that fully residential schools might weaken parent-child relationships. Officials were instructed not to neglect schools in rural areas. Andhra pradesh Promised Pension Increase Starting April The joint manifesto from the TDP and Jana Sena assures that the pension increase of ₹4,000 will be implemented from April. According to this plan, each beneficiary will receive ₹7,000 starting July 1. This amount includes the standard ₹4,000 pension plus an additional ₹3,000 calculated from April onwards. For differently-abled individuals, the pension is set to rise to ₹6,000. TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu's announcement has prompted officials to initiate the necessary procedures to ensure the timely distribution of the enhanced pensions. Financial Implications and Planning Currently, there are 6.53 million pension beneficiaries across the state. The government disburses ₹1,939 crores monthly for these pensions. If the increased pension amount of ₹4,000 is implemented from April, each beneficiary will receive ₹7,000 on July 1. For differently-abled individuals, the distribution of the ₹6,000 pension will amount to ₹4,400 crores. From August onwards, the monthly expenditure is projected to be ₹2,800 crores. Officials have prepared a preliminary estimate of these expenses and are set to report them to the government. Differently-Abled Pensioners There are approximately 800,000 differently-abled pensioners statewide, currently receiving ₹3,000 per month. The joint manifesto promises to double this amount to ₹6,000. Additionally, the manifesto includes provisions for a ₹15,000 monthly pension for those with complete disabilities and a ₹10,000 monthly pension for individuals suffering from chronic illnesses like kidney disease and thalassemia. Authorities from the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments are gathering detailed data from the health department to identify the number of eligible beneficiaries for these categories. Expanding Pension Eligibility to 50-Year-Olds The joint manifesto also proposes implementing the pension scheme for SC, ST, BC, and minority communities starting at the age of 50. Officials are currently compiling data to determine the number of individuals over 50 within these communities and how many of them are already receiving pensions. This initiative aims to extend social security benefits to a broader section of the population, ensuring that older adults within these marginalized communities receive adequate financial support. Hyderabad Retiree Scammed Out of Rs 85 Lakh by Fake CBI Officers Shocking Retirement Scam: Hyderabad Man Loses Rs 85 Lakh A retired senior executive from Hyderabad was swindled out of Rs 85 lakh by a gang impersonating CBI officers. This elaborate scam involved a two-day interrogation via Skype, convincing the victim to transfer his retirement funds for a supposed investigation. The Deceptive Scheme Unfolded The victim, a 57-year-old former associate general manager at a German pharma company, had saved the retirement settlement for his son's higher education abroad. After receiving his settlement on May 2, he was targeted by the fraudsters on May 14, just days before his son's visa appointment. The gang, posing as officers from various government agencies including CBI, customs, narcotics, and income tax, coerced him into writing a cheque to 'Rana Garments', an entity operating an HDFC account in Delhi's Uttam Nagar. Intricacies of the Fraud Following the victim’s cheque, the funds were swiftly dispersed to 105 different bank accounts across India. The fraudulent scheme was so well-orchestrated that the victim, trusting the assurance of the so-called officers, believed the money would be returned after a verification process.
