Umamaheswara Rao on charges of corruption. Early Tuesday morning, ACB officials arrived at his residence in Ashok Nagar, Hyderabad, and took him into custody. Excessive Wealth Case Against Umamaheswara Rao ACB officials discovered Rs. 37.5 lakhs in cash, 60 tolas of gold jewelry, two bank lockers, and properties in 17 locations during the raids. These findings indicate wealth far exceeding his known income. Simultaneously, multiple teams conducted raids at 14 locations across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including the homes of Rao's brother, relatives, and close associates. The total value of assets seized is estimated to be around Rs. 3.46 crores, though market value assessments suggest it could be much higher. ACB's joint director, Sudhindra, supervised the operations and confirmed that Rao will be presented in court on Wednesday. Investigations are also looking into his involvement in illicit FMCG investments. Dazzling Wealth Uncovered During the raids, ACB teams uncovered Rs. 37.5 lakhs in cash and 60 tolas of gold jewelry. They also seized documents for properties located in 17 different areas, including prime locations in Hyderabad's outskirts. Specifically, they found properties in five places in Ghatkesar, seven in Visakhapatnam and Chodavaram, and one each in Shamirpet, Malkajgiri, and Kukatpally. Additionally, a luxurious villa in Shamirpet and two bank lockers were identified. The asset list is expected to grow as the investigation progresses. Rao was previously involved in investigating the fraud case of the real estate firm Sahiti Infra, which collected Rs. 2000 crores from hundreds of consumers through pre-launch offers but failed to deliver the promised flats, and even engaged in double registrations. The CCS had registered cases against Sahiti’s MD Budati Lakshmi Narayana and his family.
