Empowering Women: Free Electric Scooters for College-Going Girls

In a significant move, the government has declared its commitment to provide complimentary electric scooters to female students pursuing education. This initiative follows the earlier announcement of free travel on government buses, fulfilling one of the six guarantees made by the Congress party during the elections. Let’s delve into the details of this promising endeavor.

Mahalakshmi Scheme: Making Travel Accessible

Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the government has already implemented the provision of free travel on RTC buses, ensuring convenient transportation for students. This step aligns with the Congress party’s pledge to address the needs of the people, particularly focusing on the welfare of students.

Rajiv Arugasree Bima Project: Ensuring Financial Security

As part of their six guarantees, the Congress party has allocated 10 lakhs under the Rajiv Arugasree Bima Project, emphasizing financial security for the citizens. This initiative aims to provide a safety net for individuals, further solidifying the government’s commitment to the welfare of its people.

Fulfilling Promises: A 100-Day Commitment

The Congress party, true to its word, has undertaken various initiatives to fulfill the remaining guarantees within the first 100 days. Among these commitments is the launch of a comprehensive training program aimed at providing electric scooters to students enrolled in colleges.

Women Empowerment through Electric Scooters

In its election manifesto, the Congress party outlined a visionary plan to empower young women by providing electric scooters to every woman above the age of 18. This program seeks to enhance mobility and independence among young women, contributing to their overall empowerment.

The Sarkar Project: Focus on Accessibility

Currently, Ravant Reddy is spearheading the Sarkar project, with an estimated budget of Rs 350 crore allocated for offering electric scooters. This ambitious initiative is set to benefit approximately 5 lakh economically disadvantaged students across 1,784 colleges in Hyderabad, Rangaratti, and Matsal districts.

Targeted Outreach: Addressing Student Needs

Of the 5 lakh students, about 2 lakh reside in the metropolitan area, with up to 70 thousand students studying in government colleges. The government is gearing up to release detailed procedures and application information for this project shortly, ensuring a streamlined and accessible process for eligible students.
