Heavy Rainfall Alert for Telangana

Today, many districts in Telangana are bracing for heavy rains as per the Hyderabad Meteorological Center. The influence of southwest monsoon winds and a trough extending across the state will result in widespread rainfall. Some districts will see particularly intense rains.

The districts of Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nagarkurnool, and Mahbubnagar are expected to witness heavy rains today. Other districts might see light to moderate showers.

Yellow Alert Issued for Several Districts

The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for these districts. Forecasts predict heavy rainfall across the state today and tomorrow, driven by southwest monsoon winds and a trough impact. Authorities have warned of heavy rains in Medak, Sangareddy, and Kamareddy on Monday and Tuesday. The potential for rain accompanied by strong winds of 30-40 km/h, thunderstorms, and lightning has been highlighted.

Public Advisory: Stay Cautious and Indoors

Given the weather conditions, the public is advised to exercise caution. Officials have recommended that people only go outside if absolutely necessary. The weather office has emphasized safety measures due to the risk of strong winds, thunder, and lightning.

Significant Rainfall Recorded Across Telangana

Saturday saw significant rainfall in various parts of the state. Warangal district’s Chennaraopet recorded the highest rainfall at 6.8 cm. Following this, Khanapur Mandal in Mangalavaripet saw 5.6 cm, Mahbubabad district’s Kothagudem recorded 5.4 cm, and Bhadrachalam in Bhadrachalam district saw 4.1 cm. Nirmal recorded 3.8 cm of rainfall according to weather officials.

Hyderabad Experiences Heavy Evening Rains

Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday evening. Despite a dry morning, the weather shifted dramatically by evening, resulting in heavy rains. Areas including Serilingampally, Alwal, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Banjara Hills, Kondapur, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Dilsukhnagar, Chaitanyapuri, Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Miyapur, Lakdikapul, and Abids received substantial rainfall.

Traffic Disruptions Due to Heavy Rains

Heavy rains led to severe traffic jams in affected areas. Waterlogged roads caused vehicle standstills for kilometers, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and travelers. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) personnel and traffic police were quick to respond, clearing traffic and easing the congestion, bringing relief to vehicle owners and commuters alike.
