Social Media Personality Awardee Booked for Misinformation about TGSRTC Logo

Social Media Personality Awardee Booked for Misinformation about TGSRTC Logo, A case has been filed against two individuals in Hyderabad for circulating a fake logo of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on social media platforms. One of the accused, Konatham Dileep, was awarded “Social Media Person of the Year” in 2023 by the Public Relations Council of India.

Allegations and Charges

The complaint, registered at Chikkadpally police station, alleges that Dileep, who formerly served as the director of digital media for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, and Harish Reddy, a BRS NRI activist residing in the US, intentionally shared a video containing a fabricated TGSRTC logo. This misinformation prompted TGSRTC MD VC Sajjanar to issue a public clarification confirming that the corporation’s logo remains unchanged.

The charges against Dileep and Reddy include:

  • Forgery (IPC Section 469)
  • Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (IPC Section 504)
  • Statements conducing to public mischief (IPC Section 505(1)(b) & (c))
  • Criminal conspiracy (IPC Section 34)
  • Publishing or transmitting obscene content in electronic form (IT Act Section 67)

The complainant, Anchuri Sridhar, further alleged that Reddy posted an abusive video using offensive language, potentially damaging the reputation of both TGSRTC and the state government.

Political Connections and Public Repercussions

Both Dileep and Reddy are reportedly close associates of KT Rama Rao, the working president of the BRS party. This case has sparked controversy and raised questions about the spread of misinformation on social media, particularly by individuals holding influential positions.
