The ceremony commenced with a ‘Sarv Dharm Puja’ and an insightful presentation on the aircraft’s capabilities. This medium lift tactical aircraft possesses the unique ability to take off and land on unprepared landing grounds, ultimately replacing the HS-748 Avro aircraft.

Strengthening Medium Lift Tactical Capabilities

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Raksha Mantri expressed unwavering confidence in the C-295’s potential to bolster the IAF’s medium lift tactical capabilities. He emphasized that the defense and aerospace sectors serve as the bedrock for India’s self-reliance in the years to come.

Localization and Manufacturing

Out of the contracted 56 aircraft, the first 16 will be delivered to the IAF in a ‘fly-away’ condition. The remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India, specifically by Tata Advanced Systems Limited at their Vadodara facility. Notably, the first IAF squadron set to operate these aircraft, the 11 Squadron (The Rhinos), is also based in Vadodara.

The exhibition featured projects such as a Hybrid Drone Detection System, AI Engine for fault diagnosis, a Fly-By-Wire Tester, Stabilized Power Supply Trolleys, QR Code-based Tool Crib management systems, and modern teaching aids.
