Official Statement from the Health Ministry

In an official statement, the Health Ministry said, “Taking into consideration the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students.”

Precautionary Measures

As a precautionary measure, the Ministry has decided to postpone the NEET-PG exam. “It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held tomorrow, i.e., 23rd June 2024. The fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest,” the statement added.

Apology to Students

The Health Ministry expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to students. “The Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process,” the statement said.

Comparison to Other Postponed Exams

This postponement follows the delay of the June edition of the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and UGC-NET exams. The Joint CSIR-UGC-NET determines eligibility for junior research fellowships, assistant professorships, and PhD admissions in science courses.
