Unveiling the Spirit of Telangana: A Symbol of Pride and Heritage
In a remarkable display of Telangana’s pride and enduring spirit, Chief Minister Revanth Anumula announced the installation of the Telangana Mother Statue. This statue will not only reflect the indomitable spirit of the state but also embody a deep sense of self-confidence, akin to how one views their own mother with joy and reverence.
A Monument of Significance
Chief Minister Revanth Anumula emphasized that the Telangana Mother Statue would be a symbol not of feudalism but of the people’s pride, representing the state’s rich cultural heritage. The statue will be placed at the main entrance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. During the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the statue, the Chief Minister revealed plans for a grand unveiling event on December 9, to be held in the presence of millions, reminiscent of the Million March.
The Telangana Movement: A Testament to Perseverance
Reflecting on the Telangana movement, the Chief Minister highlighted that nothing is impossible when driven by determination and commitment. He praised Sonia Gandhi for honoring her promise and facilitating the formation of the state. Revanth Anumula reminded the public that he had previously announced the statue’s installation during the state’s decade-long celebrations, and the responsibility of designing the statue was entrusted to the Fine Arts Department of JNTU.
Honoring the Icons of Telangana
The Chief Minister detailed the vision for the Secretariat grounds, which will feature not just the Telangana Mother Statue but also statues of other great leaders. These include Babasaheb Ambedkar, PV Narasimha Rao, Anjayya, Jaipal Reddy, and Kaka Venkataswamy, along with a memorial for martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. A statue of Rajiv Gandhi will stand prominently in the center, symbolizing his contribution to the country.
A People’s Triumph Over Past Regimes
The Chief Minister took a moment to reflect on the past decade, noting that previous rulers attempted to obscure Telangana’s identity by placing their statues in prominent places. However, the people’s government, with the blessings of the citizens, has now ensured that the Telangana Mother Statue will take its rightful place in the Secretariat, in alignment with the aspirations of the people. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for this opportunity, considering it a privilege to serve the people in this capacity.
A Timely Celebration
The Chief Minister explained that the foundation stone-laying ceremony was hastily arranged as Vedic scholars advised that Wednesday was an auspicious day, with no other favorable dates until Dussehra. Although Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka was in Kerala and other ministers were preoccupied with pre-scheduled commitments, the event proceeded as planned. The ceremony was attended by ministers Komatireddy KVR, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, government advisors, the Chief Secretary, and senior officials.
This statue is set to become a beacon of pride for Telangana, celebrating the state’s rich history, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of its people.
