The decision to introduce Mangala Sutras was a pivotal outcome of the TTD Board meeting held at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala. Alongside this, the board approved a substantial budget of Rs 5,141.74 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Expressing the intent behind this initiative, Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy stated that the introduction of Mangala Sutras, blessed by Lord Venkateswara Swamy, aims to strengthen the marital bonds of the devotees. Post the state’s bifurcation, TTD has taken a notable step by establishing an exclusive superspecialty hospital for children in Tirupati, now renamed Sri Padmavathi Institute of Child Health.
