K. Chandrashekar Rao, popularly known as KCR, is the current Chief Minister of Telangana. He is the founder and president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party. KCR was born in Chintamadaka village in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh on 17th July 1954. He is a graduate in law and economics.

KCR started his political career in the Indian National Congress (INC) party. He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1983 and served as a minister in the cabinet of N. T. Rama Rao. In 2001, he resigned from the INC and founded the TRS.

The TRS led the Telangana movement for a separate state for Telangana. The movement was successful and Telangana was formed as a separate state on 1st June 2014. KCR was elected as the first Chief Minister of Telangana in the 2014 elections.

KCR is a popular leader in Telangana. He is known for his pro-poor policies and his commitment to the development of Telangana. He has been credited with the state's rapid economic growth and development.
