The upcoming DSC (District Selection Committee) recruitment for filling teacher vacancies in the state has received a staggering 2,79,956 applications. Teacher Vacancies Notification
The Education Department recently issued a notification to fill a total of 11,062 teacher posts. The notification invited applications from candidates who have completed D.Ed (Diploma in Education) or B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) and have passed the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test). Eligible candidates can apply for the positions of Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) and School Assistant (SA). Those with B.Ed qualifications and who passed the TET can apply for two subjects in the SA category.
Surge in Applications
Contrary to initial estimates, which anticipated around 200,000 applications, the actual number has significantly exceeded expectations. Hyderabad district alone accounted for 27,027 applications, followed by Nalgonda with 15,610 applications. Due to the 5% non-local quota, candidates from other districts also applied in large numbers to Hyderabad, resulting in a higher number of applications from this district. On the lower end, Medchal district received 2,265 applications, and Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district received 2,828 applications.
Free Application Facility
Taking advantage of the government’s provision, 23,919 candidates applied without paying the application fee. The application process for the DSC recruitment concluded at midnight on Thursday. Education Department officials announced on Friday that a total of 2,79,956 applications were received, including an additional 100,000 new applicants compared to previous years.
Mega DSC Notification Breakdown
The Telangana government released a mega DSC notification on the 29th of last month to fill 11,062 teacher vacancies. This includes 2,629 School Assistant (SA) posts, 6,508 Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts, 727 Language Pandit posts, 182 Physical Education Teacher (PET) posts, 220 School Assistant (Special Category) posts, and 796 SGT (Special Education) posts.

Extended Application Deadline
Initially, the DSC application deadline was set for April 4th. However, due to the demand from unemployed candidates for the TET to be conducted before the DSC, the Telangana government extended the application deadline to June 20th. Consequently, the DSC exams are scheduled to be conducted online from the 17th to the 31st of next month, as clarified by Education Department officials.
