Resignationation letter of MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao to Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao, President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Telangana Bhavan, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
Subject :- Resignation from the party and rejection of the assembly ticket. Respected Sir,
I hereby resign from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party and reject the assembly ticket offered to me for Malkajgiri, my constituency. I have taken this decision after a lot of deliberation and consultation with my supporters and constituents.
With the aim of fulfilling the aspirations of the Telangana people, I joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party in 2014 when the party was without a single corporator in GHMC and facing headwinds in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. I worked hard for the party and the people. I thank you for recognizing my contribution – as the then district president of the party in Greater Hyderabad -to the success of the party in the GHMC elections in 2016 and for giving me the opportunity to serve as an MLC and subsequently an MLA ticket.
However, I am deeply disappointed and disillusioned with the recent developments in the party. There is no democracy or transparency in its functioning. The party leadership has ignored the voices and opinions of the grassroots workers and leaders and has taken unilateral decisions without any consultation or consensus. The name change of the party from TRS to BRS against the wishes of the rank and file of the party is a glaring example of this. The unfruitful attempts to expand into neighboring states have taken away the focus of the party from the development of Telangana.
The disconnect between the party and the people and its own cadre is even more evident in the choice of several candidates who are facing severe backlash from their constituents and even the party cadre.
On a personal level, I have serious differences with some of the senior leaders of the party who have been spreading false and malicious propaganda against me in the media and social media.
Therefore, I have decided to resign from the BRS party and reject the assembly ticket announced to me. I cannot continue to be a part of a party that has lost its direction and identity and has become a puppet in the hands of a few power-hungry individuals.
I cannot betray the trust and faith of my constituents who have elected me with a huge majority. I cannot compromise on my principles, values, and commitment to service that I have upheld throughout my political career.
I request you to kindly accept my resignation, relieve me from all the responsibilities and positions that I hold in the party, and also withdraw my name from the list of your party candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.
