From GA (Cabinet) Dept., U.O.Note.No.155/2024, Dated:26.10.2024 ORDER: 1. Metro Rail is an important instrument in reducing traffic congestion and pollution levels in Hyderabad city. Phase-I of the project, covering three dense traffic corridors of Hyderabad city and spanning over 69 km with a cost of about Rs.22,000 Cr, is the world’s largest Metro Rail project in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. With state-of-the-art technologies and world-class amenities, the system has become very popular and about 5 lakh passengers are using it for their daily commute. 2. In the light of the experience of Phase-I, the Government reviewed the earlier approved Phase-II proposals and reworked them. The main objective of this exercise is to cater to the needs of different sections of the society and to spur equitable growth in all parts of the city. Based on updated traffic studies and several rounds of discussions, six new corridors have been identified for the Phase-II expansion project. The details of the Phase-II expansion corridors are as under (mainly as extension of the existing 3 corridors): Part A: Corridor IV: Nagole – Shamshabad RGIA (Airport Corridor) : 36.8 km Corridor V: Raidurg - Kokapet Neopolis : 11.6 km Corridor VI: MGBS Chandrayangutta (Old City Corridor) : 7.5 km Corridor VII: Miyapur – Patancheru : 13.4 km Corridor VIII: LB Nagar - Hayat Nagar : 7.1 km ------------ Total : 76.4 km ----------- Part B: Corridor IX: RGIA – Fourth City (Skill University) 40.0 km ------------ Grand Total: 116.4 km ======== 3. Among the above identified Phase-II corridors, Corridor IX (Shamshabad RGIA – Fourth City (Skill University) : 40 km) alignment, other features, cost estimate etc., are being worked out and presently field surveys are in progress. The remaining Part ‘A’ of the Phase-II project consisting of (5) corridors for a length of about 76.4 km at an estimated cost of Rs.24,269 Cr are proposed to be taken up 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) project of Government of Telangana and Government of India. 4. Accordingly, Government after careful examination of the matter hereby accord administrative sanction for implementation of above Part A of Metro Rail Phase-II Project consisting of 5 (five) Metro Phase-II extension corridors with a length of 76.4 km by Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited as a 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) Project of Government of Telangana and Government of India with an estimated cost of cost of Rs.24,269 Cr (GoTG’s share - Rs. 7,313 Cr (30 %); GoI’s share – Rs.4,230 Cr (18%); Debt from JICA, ADB, NDB etc - Rs.11,693 Cr (48 %); and PPP component - Rs.1,033 Cr (4%)).

  2. Corridor V: Raidurg to Kokapet Neopolis – 11.6 km
  3. Corridor VI: MGBS to Chandrayangutta (Old City Corridor) – 7.5 km
  4. Corridor VII: Miyapur to Patancheru – 13.4 km
