Widening of Nalgonda Road from Km 92/5 to 99/5

The Chief Engineer (R&B) CRN & MD, APRDC, Hyderabad., has stated  that Mahabubnabagar – Nalgonda is an important Major District Road connecting two state Highways viz., Hyderabad– Nagarjunasagar road and Hyderabad – Srisailam road. The road is passing through Devarakonda town and this road also connects number of interior roads and villages in the backward and Tribal area of Nalgonda District. The traffic intensity carrying heavy axel loads on the above road is high, as this is link road connecting Telangana and Rayalaseema regions. Daily thousands of heavy axel load trucks carrying Agricultural products from the command area of N’Sagar left bank canal and cement from the industries situated in and around Miryalguda and Huzurnagar towns ply on this road, this road also road leads to Srisailam pilgrim centre from other parts of Nalgonda and from neighboring districts Warangal and Khammam.

He has also stated that the stretch from Km 99/5 to 114/4 of Mahabubanagar – Nalgonda is Double lane and the stretch from Km 88/0 to 99/5 of  single lane carriage width.  Due to insufficient width in Km 92/5 to 99/5, lot of accidents are taking place during night time. The only alternative to mitigate the above problem is to widen the carriageway to 7.0m width and to strengthen the same to cater to the present day traffic demand. Further the people of Chandampet Mandal and surrounding villagers use this road which is having tribal population of 48.59% as per reference above cited. The tribal people will be directly benefited by Widening of this stretch of the road.

The traffic intensity of the road is 18,417 PCUs/day. As per IRC 64-1990 guidelines a double lane carriageway can cater upto 17,250 PCUs/day and as such this road may be considered for widening to Double lane to cater to the existing traffic and also to reduce accidents. The estimated cost of the subject work is Rs.5.00 Crores. He has submitted the Stage.I clearance certificate stating that the subject works doesn’t involve any Land Acquisition/Shifting of utilities.
