791 Crores for Mission Bhagiratha – Telangana Drinking Water 1


Mission Bhagiratha is one of the Flagship Projects of the Government with an objective to provide safe potable Drinking Water on sustainable basis to all the Rural and Urban Habitations in the Nine Districts of Telangana (Minus Urban agglomeration within the Outer Ring Road).

The Engineer-in-Chief, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Hyderabad has submitted the proposals in the refs. 1st to 2nd read above, for according administrative sanction for the following Intra distribution system works:

1) 5603 habitations in 105 Mandals in the State with a cost of Rs.2151.56 Crores.

2) 19 merged habitations in Siddipet Municipality of Medak District with a cost of Rs.36.50 Crores.

Further, the Engineer-in-Chief, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Hyderabad has submitted that out of the 5603 habitations for which administrative sanction is being sought for as above, the department will be in a position to supply water to 1130 habitations in 38 Mandals ( Total habitations in 38 Mandals are 1776 with an estimated cost of Rs.755.47 Crores), in addition to 19 merged habitations in Siddipet Municipality by the end of August, 2016. Further the ENC, RWS&S has requested to allow entrustment of 1776 habitations in 38 Mandals to the respective existing executing agencies of the main segments as add-on works as per the conditions stipulated in the G.O.Rt.No.16 of PR&RD(RWS.IV), Dt.04.01.2016, since it may take time to complete the process of entrustment by calling for fresh tenders which in turn may delay the actual water supply to such habitations.

The Government after careful examination of the matter, hereby accord administrative sanction for the following intra-distribution works with total estimated cost of Rs.791.97 Crores (Rupees Seven Hundred and Ninety One Crores and Ninety Seven Lakhs Only) under Telangana Drinking Water Supply Project (Mission Bhagiratha), which are targeted to be completed by the end of August, 2016. The details of the works are appended to this order as Annexure I and II.

i) For Intra Village works of 1776 habitations covering 38 Mandals for Rs.755.47 Crores. (As annexure-I).
ii) 19 merged habitations of Siddipet Municipalities for Rs.36.50 Crores (As annexure –II).

Further, the Engineer-in-Chief, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation, Hyderabad is hereby permitted to entrust the above works to the existing executing agencies as an add-on works as per the guidelines of G.O.Rt.No.16 PR&RD (RWS IV), dated 04.01.2016.

This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance (EBS-VIII) Department vide their U.O.No…154/Fin.(EBS.VIII)Dept./2016, dt.28.04.2016.
