KV Maheswar Reddy assumed his new role as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Srikakulam district on Monday. Previously, he served in Alluri Sitharama Raju district as the ASP Chinturu, bringing a wealth of experience to his new position.
Maheswar Reddy’s First Day as SP
Before officially taking charge, Maheswar Reddy sought blessings from the Sun God at the Arasavalli temple. He emphasized his commitment to enforcing government directives and maintaining law and order. Reddy urged the residents of Srikakulam to live peacefully and assured them of his availability and prompt resolution of their issues.
Government Restructuring and Appointments
The TDP coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is taking significant steps toward administrative reforms. As part of this initiative, numerous IAS and IPS officers have been transferred. Recently, the government reassigned 37 IPS officers, appointing new SPs to several districts. Maheswar Reddy’s appointment as the new SP of Srikakulam is part of this strategic reshuffle.
Maheswar Reddy’s Professional Journey
Maheswar Reddy, a native of Kadapa, comes from a middle-class background and has shown remarkable determination in his journey to becoming an IPS officer. Belonging to the 2019 IPS batch, he initially worked with the Greyhounds in Visakhapatnam. Following this, he served as the ASP of Chinturu for two and a half years before his role as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Rampachodavaram. His unbiased conduct during the recent Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections earned him significant recognition and led to his promotion from OSD to SP.
Vision and Priorities for Srikakulam
In his first address as SP, Maheswar Reddy expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for entrusting him with the new responsibilities. He reiterated his focus on the welfare policies of the state government and their implementation in Srikakulam to ensure peace and security. Reddy emphasized prioritizing women’s safety, with a particular focus on addressing assaults and missing person cases. He also pledged to tackle illegal activities such as the transportation of contraband substances like marijuana.

Reddy’s approach to law enforcement is community-focused, aiming to build trust between the police force and the residents of Srikakulam. He assured the public that the police would work diligently to foster a safe and secure environment.
Ceremonial Commencement
On Tuesday, following his assumption of duties, Maheswar Reddy visited the Arasavalli Sun Temple, where temple priests welcomed him with traditional Vedic chants and bestowed blessings upon him. The temple’s Executive Officer also presented a memento to mark the occasion.
