Chandra Babu Pension Kanuka Eligibility Criteria, Benefits & Types 2024

The Andhra Pradesh government is celebrating Pension Day today, distributing increased pensions to beneficiaries across the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will personally deliver pensions to recipients in Penumaka village, Tadepalli mandal, Guntur district. Additionally, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other public representatives will participate in the distribution process statewide. In a single day, 65.31 lakh beneficiaries will receive a total of ₹4,408 crores. Let’s explore the details of who gets what in the enhanced pensions in Andhra Pradesh.

A Festive Pension Distribution in Andhra Pradesh

In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh government has commenced the distribution of increased pensions as promised in the election manifesto. Operating under the NTR Bharosa scheme, the government has been implementing the new pension amounts since April, including arrears for three months. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is making history by personally distributing pensions, a first for a state chief minister. Across the state, 65.31 lakh beneficiaries will receive a total of ₹4,408 crores in pensions, benefiting 28 different categories of recipients.

Enhanced Pensions for Various Beneficiary Categories

The coalition government has not only increased the pension amounts but also included arrears for the past three months. The monthly pension for the elderly, widows, single women, fishermen, weavers, toddy tappers, artists, drum artists, and transgender individuals has been increased from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000. Including the arrears, each of these beneficiaries will receive ₹7,000 (an additional ₹1,000 per month for three months).

For differently-abled individuals, the monthly pension has been doubled from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000. Those with severe disabilities will see their pensions increased significantly from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000. Similarly, individuals suffering from serious health conditions such as kidney, liver, or heart transplants will now receive pensions of ₹15,000, up from ₹5,000. There are 24,318 beneficiaries in this category.

Efficient Pension Distribution by Government Employees

State secretariat employees are tasked with delivering pensions directly to the homes of beneficiaries. A total of 1,20,097 village and ward secretariat employees will manage the distribution. The goal is to distribute 90% of the pensions on the first day itself. The distribution process starts at 6 AM and continues until 6 PM. The government has made extensive arrangements to ensure the distribution is celebrated like a festival, with participation from the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other political leaders.

Chief Minister’s Active Participation in Pension Distribution

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will start distributing pensions at 6 AM in Penumaka, Tadepalli mandal, Guntur district. He will first hand over the pension to Banavat Pamulu Naik’s family in Sugali Colony, with Pamulu Naik receiving an old-age pension and his daughter, Islavat Shivakumari, receiving a widow’s pension. Following the pension distribution in the village, Chandrababu Naidu will attend a public meeting at the Penumaka Mosque Center, where he will interact with beneficiaries and the public. After the event, he will return to his residence in Undavalli.

This unprecedented move by the Andhra Pradesh government to increase and efficiently distribute pensions highlights the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens, ensuring financial support reaches those in need promptly and effectively.
