Strengthening of Consumer Fora and Financial Assistance


Government of India, Department of Consumer Affairs, New Delhi  had stated that, the   Government of India, Department of Consumer Affairs had launched a Scheme “Strengthening of Consumer Fora”  for implementation during XI   Plan.   As large number of States and UTs could not avail the Financial Assistance under the Scheme, it was decided to continue the Scheme during the XII Plan with some modifications. As per the guidelines, an Empowered Committee has to be constituted in each State under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of the  concerned  State.The Empowered Committee will  make  further allocation of funds  for the construction/strengthening of infrastructure of individual Consumer Fora based on local need analysis.

The Registrar, AP State Consumer Disputes  Redressal  Commission,  Hyderabad       has  requested  to  take necessary steps for constitution of Empowered Committee under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of the State Government as per the guidelines of the Government of India at an early date.

Government after consideration   hereby   constitute an Empowered Committee  under the Chairma]nship of Chief Secretary with the following members for implementation of the  scheme titled “Strengthening of Consumer For a” for construction of consumer For a buildings  and also for other items  indicated in the scheme.

The empowered Committee shall follow  the guidelines   and norms prescribed by  the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi for strengthening of Consumer Fora before release of funds.

The Registrar, AP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Hyderabad shall take necessary further action in the matter.
