The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREG) ACT has mandated the provision of a minimum of 100 days unskilled work for any household who demand for it. Under the provision of the section 3 of NREG Act the State Government of Andhra Pradesh has formulated and notified Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Guarantee (APREG) Scheme in the reference.
During the current Financial year 2012-13, due to deficit in rain fall Government has declared 234 mandals as drought affected mandal vide Government Order 3rd cited. As a result of adverse effect on agricultural operations in those areas there is a likely hood of increased demand for wage employment over and above 100 days.
The Government of India in letter 4th cited have agreed to provide financial support to the State by providing additional employment over and above 100 days up to 150 days in drought affected Taluks /Blocks. The special dispensation in the drought affected Taluks is subject to the condition that State will notify the modification to the scheme and furnish a copy of such modification.
Accordingly, the following modification is issued to the section (2), provision (1) under Objectives, of the APREG Scheme to provide up to 50 days of additional employment in notified drought effected mandals in the financial year 2012-13.
In APREG Scheme after section (2) provision (1) under Objective of the scheme the following shall be added.
“To provide up to 50 days of additional employment over and above 100 days in the notified drought effected mandals in the financial year 2012-13 to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled and manual work”.
