Launching of National Urban Health Mission in Andhra Pradesh

Government of India has approved the launch of National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) as a Sub-Mission under the overarching umbrella of National Health Mission (NHM), with NRHM being the other submission. The National Urban Health Mission will aim to improve the health status of the urban population in general, but particularly of the poor and other disadvantaged sections, by facilitating equitable access to quality health care through a revamped public health system, partnerships, community based mechanism with the active involvement of the urban local bodies.

Government after careful examination of the matter hereby accord Administrative approval for implementation of National Urban Health Mission in Andhra Pradesh. The guidelines for implementation of the NUHM shall be the same as laid down by Government of India.

Government further approved the sharing pattern of expenditure between Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh in the ratio of 75% and 25 % respectively.  Therefore Government hereby accord permission to meet State Matching share of Rs.26.70 crores (Rupees Twenty Six Crores Seventy Lakhs) for implementation of National Urban Health Mission for the rest of the Financial Year 2013-14 from the plan budget. However, from the next financial year onwards the total matching share will be reflected in the budget.

Government also hereby accord Administrative approval for establishment and operationalisation of Urban Health Cell

The Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, A.P. Hyderabad and Mission Director, NRHM, A.P. Hyderabad shall take further necessary action accordingly.

This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance (Expr.M&H.II) Department, vide their U.O.No.1760/166/A1/Expr.M&H.II/13, dt.17-10-2013.
