District Level Energy Committees of State Energy Conservation Mission

State Government has constituted a State Level Conservation Mission to propagate energy conservation measures among all the stakeholders.  It has been felt that constitution of a similar committee at the District Level will help to popularize adoption of energy conservation measures on a wider scale.  It was also decided to constitute such Committee at the District Level in the 1st Meeting of the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) held on 09.11.2012.

Government of AP accordingly has given orders to constitution the District Level Energy Conservation Committee of the State Energy Conservation Mission in each District with the following composition:-

CEO/Zilla Parishad Member
Municipal Commissioners of Corporations/ Municipalities Member
Joint Director/ Agriculture Member
DEO/School Education Member
District Manager/ NREDCAP Member
GM/District Industries Centre Member
District Public Relations Officer Member
SE/RWS Member
District Panchayat Officer Member
SE/Operations/DISCOMs Member-Convener

The District Energy Conservation Committee shall:

(i)     Champion the cause of Conservation of Energy and take all necessary measures for creation of necessary awareness and bringing about sustainable behavioural change leading to economical consumption of energy.

(ii)   Devise measurable and sustainable goals with clear action plan, involving organizations like APTRANSCO, APDISCOMs, APGENCO, etc.

(iii) Compile best practices and methods to reduce consumption in each of the domestic, commercial, industrial & agriculture segments bench marking against the best international standards & practices and communicate the same through case studies, demo-centres and neighborhood pilots to different consumer segments.

(i)     Facilitate and enforce the efficient use of energy and its conservation on various Government and Government supported organizations covering all areas of energy use.

The District Level Energy Conservation Committee will meet at least once in a quarter to review the progress of the Action Plan for the district.  Report of activities of the District Level Committee shall be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer, State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) on a monthly basis.
