182 crores to Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women at Tirupathi 2


The Director, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupathi has requested the Government to issue revised / re validated Essentially Certificate in favour of SVIMS, Tirupathi to establish Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women at Tirupathi with an intake capacity of 150 seats under the management of SVIMS, Tirupathi.    Basing on the proposal of the Director, SVIMS, Tirupathi, the Government have issued revised / revalidated Essentiality Certificate Dated: 17/09/2013 in favour of SVIMS, Tirupathi to start Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women at Tirupathi with an intake capacity of 150 seats under the management of SVIMS, Tirupathi.

Executive Officer, Tirumala Tirumala Devasthanams, Tirupathi has reported that in the   Government Memo. 1st  read above, the  Director, SVIMS and the Executive Officer, TTD  have been requested to prepare a  suitable model for the proposed Sri Padmavathi Medical College that provides for functional financial and operational autonomy for the proposed Institute preferably limiting the support from the Govt. to capital expenditure and devising the options to enable the Institute to generate its own funds to meet its operational expenditure. It is also stated that to locate the proposed Medical college for women close to the present location of SVIMS involves a capital outlay of Rs.182 crores. At present an extent of about Ac.20.00 cents of land is vacant in two different bits.  He has opined that  the proposed college may be established with funding of capex by the state Government and deficit in opex by suitably fixing the fee through the self finance mechanism for certain (Category C) seats to be allotted on merit cum means basis with the approval of AFRC (Admission & Fee Regulation Committee).

Director, SVIMS has submitted the Detailed Project Report to the Government and stated that establishment of the College at Tirupati near the premises of SVIMS will improve the functioning of the project to a larger extent, as it has well-established connectivity with the entire State making accessibility convenient for the patients. Still further the facilities established by the hospitals under the fold of TTD may also be utilised to the betterment of Students.

As regards the staffing pattern for the proposed Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women at Tirupathi, the pattern being followed for the Govt Medical Colleges shall be adopted, other guidelines, if any, will be issued later.

The Government after careful examination of the matter, hereby accorded Administration Sanction for an amount of Rs.182.11 crores towards the capital expenditure for Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women at Tirupathi, with an intake capacity of 150 MBBS seats.

The Director, SVIMS, Tirupathi shall take necessary action accordingly.
