Monkey Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre at Chincholi Nirmal in Adilabad District


Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana State, Hyderabad has submitted a proposal for Establishment of one Monkey Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre at Chincholi near Nirmal in Adilabad District as Pilot Project.

In his proposal Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has submitted that in view of increased biotic pressure on forest habitats, coupled with increased population of monkeys has created a serious man animal conflict situation both in the urban and rural areas. Both the Rhesus and Bonnet Monkeys are causing disturbance in most of the villages and towns of the State. The problem is more severe in areas adjoining the forest, where the burgeoning human population resulting into generation of more waste and agricultural lands with crops like millets, cereals, groundnuts, etc. are attracting Monkeys from adjoining forest areas and causing damage to agriculture corps and heavy loss to farmers. Moreover the religious beliefs and value attached to monkeys also desist villagers either from killing or from other measures. All these factors have contributed to the increasing conflict between the monkeys and the human beings. The problem of monkeys menace has increased manifold and the Municipalities and Panchayats, which have been authorized to capture the monkeys and release them in forest areas with the help of Forest Officers, are unable to cope up with the magnitude of problem. Keeping all these problems in view, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has requested the Government to consider the proposal of establishment of Monkeys Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre at Chincholi near Nirmal in Adilabad District.

After careful examination of the proposal of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana State, Hyderabad, Government hereby order establishment of Monkey Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre at Chincholi near Nirmal in Adilabad District, as Pilot Project, at a cost of Rs. 221.10 lakhs, which includes Rs. 156.00 Lakh as non-recurring expenditure and Rs. 65.10 lakhs as recurring cost for the first year, duly meeting the expenditure within budget provision made under Telanganaku Haritha Haaram (Afforestation) Fund.

Monkey Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Telangana State, Hyderabad shall take necessary further action, accordingly.

Monkey Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre This order issues with the concurrence of Finance (EBS.VIII) Department vide their U.O.No.3403/91/16, Dt.12.04.2016.
