Sub-committees on Construction and Textile Sector Jobs REEMAP


Government is committed to providing employment opportunities to the unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh. Towards operationalizing this, Government have decided to impart skill Trainings so as to make youth employable and access opportunities in the private sector. As per the Skill Gap requirement estimated by Confederation of Indian Industry [CII], by the year 2015, the incremental potential for employment in Construction and Textile sectors is reported to be 20:10 and 10.81 lakhs respectively.

Rajiv Education & Employment Mission in Andhra Pradesh (REEMAP) a State level agency established to coordinate Skill Building efforts of 8 departments has already been working in a big way in Retail, IT enabled Services (ITES), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) etc. Employment Generation & Marketing Mission (EGMM) and Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) which have the biggest training initiatives have finalized their Training Partners for 2012-15 through a two stage Request for Proposal (RFP). However, both the Sub-missions could not get suitable Training partners in Construction and Textiles.

In order to realize the potential in “Construction” and “Textile” sectors for employment and initiate Skill trainings in big way, Government decided to constitute the following Sub-committees within Rajiv Education & Employment Council of Andhra Pradesh (REECAP):

The Composition of the Sub-committees shall be as follows:

i. Sub-committee on “Construction Sector Jobs”.

Chairman : Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce.
Convenor : Mission Director, REEMAP.
Members : i. Representatives of Nation Academy of Construction (NAC)
ii. Other members from Industry and Government
bodies as nominated by Principal Secretary,
Industries & Commerce.

ii. Sub-Committee on “Textiles Sector Jobs”.

Chairman : Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce.
Convenor : Mission Director, REEMAP.
Members : Industry representatives & Government
representatives as proposed by Principal
Secretary, Industries & Commerce.

The Committee shall hold consultation with notable employers, reputed institutions, Industrial Associations, training partners in Construction and Textile sectors and evolve detailed strategy to initiate and deliver short term trainings for the benefit of unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh.

The Committee shall also firm up and suggest specific courses, curriculum, duration, approximate cost, evaluation and certification mechanism.

The Committee shall submit its interim report on their plan of action within one month and final report on detailed implementation strategy within three (3) months positively.
