Government have issued orders to conduct a campaign from 2nd October to 3rd December, 2015 to create
awareness on Drought Proofing, Inter- linking of rivers, Water Conservation, Water Management and Plantation. The above campaign envisages active participation from all sections of the society besides various Government departments at village level, Mandal level, district level, state level and High Schools, Colleges and Universities.
Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation has stated that during the release of white paper on Neeru-Pragathi water auditing of all Districts and A.P. State at Vijayawada on 01.12.2015, instructions were given for continuing the above campaign upto 28-12.2015.
All the activities envisaged in the G.O.Ms.No.99, dt. 23.09.2015 shall also be continued. In addition to the above, the following subjects are also proposed for discussions and debates. ¾ The Water budgeting and auditing details mentioned in the white paper booklets of all Districts and A.P. State. ¾ Flood management at micro level and macro level. ¾ Construction of series of Check dams and Sub-Surface dams across all streams, minor & medium rivers to minimize the wastage of water in to the Sea. ¾ Construction of farm ponds named “Panta Sanjeevini” at least one for each 10 Ha of land to save the crops in dry spells. ¾ Conducting of cultural programmes to create further awareness on Neeru-Chettu and Neeru–Pragathi programmes. ¾ Discussion on maintaining the water table in all Districts in a range of 3 mts to 8 mts depth from Ground Level. ¾ Suggestions for cost effective river linkage and inter basin transfers.
The Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation has further stated that it was also proposed to conduct regional level meetings on the above subject at Tirupathi, Vishakhapatnam and Ananthapuramu to discuss the outcomes on
the above subjects to get suggestions. Finally, the State level function will be organised on 28.12.2015 at Vijayawada wherein the best winners from the districts and the engineers /individuals /NGOs in the field will be felicitated and best suggestions will be presented.
The Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation has, therefore, requested the Government to accord the extension for the G.O.Ms.99, Water Resources (CAD) Dept., dt:23.09.2015 for facilitating to conduct the above
discussions and debates and to continue all the activities envisaged in the said G.O. up to 28.12.2015.
Government after careful examination of the proposal of the Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Water Resources Department, hereby extends the date of the campaign beyond 3rd December,2015 upto 28th December, 2015 facilitating to conduct the above discussions, debates and regional meetings for continuing all the activities envisaged in the G.O. 1st read above.
