Pragathinagar gram pavchayat is increasing the property tax every year without quoting any rule. For example, in my case, the property tax for 2012-13 is Rs.2007; 2013-14 is Rs.2106; 2014-15 Rs.2250; 2015-16Rs.2321 and for 2016-17 Rs.2436. Normally there will be depreciation in the value of property by passage of time.
What we want is fix property tax on the same lines as that of GHMC, where the rates of tax are much less and there is no increase every year. There is power cut in gp whereas there is no power cut in GHMC. We have to purchase water everyday at exorbitant rates charged by private tankers, whereas in GHMC ,water supply is much better.Maintenance charges in apartments are more due to purchase of water daily. Rents are also much less than in GHMC limits. As such, property tax payable in pragathinagar cannot be more than of GHMC.
